Physical Education with an Olympic athlete!

11th Mar 2024

3rd and 4th class started doing Olympic movement breaks through the Dare to Believe Programme. We became familiar with many of the Irish Olympians. We really enjoyed the exercises and wanted more.

We wrote to the Olympic Federation of Ireland through Dare to Believe outlining why St. Luke’s should have an Olympic ambassador visit our small school.

Here are some of our reasons why….

Reasons why we want to meet an Olympic athlete!   “I want to meet a serious athlete”- Timothee

“Imagine a chance to meet someone inspirational in real life” Madeleine

“We did their exercises and now we want to meet them” Anabel

“I feel I’ve a little connection but want a bigger connection to an Olympic athlete” Bláithín

“We are working at being more active and want to see someone like that here” Aidan R

“Talk to them about training, their sport and what olympics will be like” Aidan L

“Cool to meet a famous person and maybe they’d like to meet us” B

“I’d like an Olympian to talk to us- they will show us how to achieve” Orion

So we were successful in our application and Brendan Boyce, Olympic walker came to visit all the students. Then we got a very special PE lesson with him.
